Last week was a very special moment in my priestly journey as I was formally installed as pastor of our three parishes. I am deeply humbled and honored to serve you as your shepherd.
I wish to thank all of you for your prayers, support, and kindness. Your beautiful spiritual bouquet, heartfelt cards, thoughtful gifts, and warm words of encouragement have touched me deeply. I am especially grateful for the reception you arranged in my honor—it was a true celebration of faith and community. Please know that I am keeping each of you in my daily prayers, asking God to bless you and your families.
This Thursday, August 15, we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation. This feast reminds us of our hope in Christ’s promise of eternal life. Mary, preserved from sin from the moment of her conception, was taken body and soul into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. Her Assumption is a sign of what awaits all who faithfully follow her Son—full union with God in Heaven.
Mary’s life was one of humble service, deep faith, and perfect love for God. As we honor her, let us ask for her intercession, that we too may say “yes” to God in all things and walk faithfully in the path of her Son. I invite you to join us for Mass on this beautiful feast day as we give thanks for the gift of our Blessed Mother and seek her guidance for our lives and our parish family.
With gratitude and prayers, Fr. Biju Chathely CMI Pastor
